Cloud Software Group, Inc., and Microsoft Corp. announced they are deepening their collaboration through an eight-year strategic partnership agreement.

The collaboration will strengthen the go-to-market collaboration for the Citrix® virtual application and desktop platform and support the development of new cloud and AI solutions with an integrated product roadmap. Additionally, Cloud Software Group will make a $1.65 billion commitment to the Microsoft cloud and its generative AI capabilities.

Cloud Software Group provides the modern enterprise with mission-critical software. Composed of TIBCO, Citrix, NetScaler, and other business units, Cloud Software Group helps more than 100 million users around the globe evolve, compete, and succeed across private, public, managed, and sovereign cloud environments. Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) enables digital transformation for the era of an intelligent cloud and an intelligent edge. Its mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.

Ft. Lauderdale-based Citrix, a business unit of Cloud Software Group, provides a secure app and desktop delivery platform that companies of all sizes can use to enable secure flexible work. With Citrix, employees can work where and how they prefer, and IT can be confident their information and devices remain safe.

The agreement will invigorate one of the industry’s most durable alliances between Citrix, a business unit of Cloud Software Group, and Microsoft. Under the partnership, Citrix is the preferred Microsoft Global Azure Partner solution for Enterprise Desktop as a Service when collaborating with joint Azure customers. The companies will jointly support customer success, offer tailored solutions, expert guidance, and support to accelerate customers’ cloud journeys.

“As organizations embrace flexible work models, the need to empower employees with secure, innovative solutions for enhanced productivity becomes imperative,” said Sridhar Mullapudi, General Manager at Citrix. “The partnership between Citrix and Microsoft epitomizes the ‘Better Together’ relationship, combining both companies’ strengths to deliver unmatched value and innovation to our customers.”

OpenAI and Apple announce partnership to integrate ChatGPT into Apple experiences

Read Time 5 Minutes
Apple introduced Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant. The announcement was made June 10th at the 2024 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks. With Private Cloud Compute, Apple sets a new standard for privacy in AI, with the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers.

“We’re thrilled to introduce a new chapter in Apple innovation. Apple Intelligence will transform what users can do with our products — and what our products can do for our users,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

“Our unique approach combines generative AI with a user’s personal context to deliver truly helpful intelligence. And it can access that information in a completely private and secure way to help users do the things that matter most to them. This is AI as only Apple can deliver it, and we can’t wait for users to experience what it can do.”

“We’re excited to partner with Apple to bring ChatGPT to their users in a new way. Apple shares our commitment to safety and innovation, and this partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone,” said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. “Together with Apple, we’re making it easier for people to benefit from what AI can offer,”

Below is a summary of the press release and announcement from Apple announcing Apple Intelligence.

  • New Capabilities for Understanding and Creating Language | Apple Intelligence unlocks new ways for users to enhance their writing and communicate more effectively. With brand-new systemwide Writing Tools built into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.

  • Image Playground Makes Communication and Self‑Expression Even More Fun | Apple Intelligence powers exciting image creation capabilities to help users communicate and express themselves in new ways. With Image Playground, users can create fun images in seconds, choosing from three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. Image Playground is easy to use and built right into apps including Messages. It’s also available in a dedicated app, perfect for experimenting with different concepts and styles. All images are created on device, giving users the freedom to experiment with as many images as they want.
  • Genmoji Creation to Fit Any Moment | Taking emoji to an entirely new level, users can create an original Genmoji to express themselves. By simply typing a description, their Genmoji appears, along with additional options. Users can even create Genmoji of friends and family based on their photos. Just like emoji, Genmoji can be added inline to messages, or shared as a sticker or reaction in a Tapback.

  • New Features in Photos Give Users More Control | Searching for photos and videos becomes even more convenient with Apple Intelligence. Natural language can be used to search for specific photos, such as “Maya skateboarding in a tie-dye shirt,” or “Katie with stickers on her face.” Search in videos also becomes more powerful with the ability to find specific moments in clips so users can go right to the relevant segment. Additionally, the new Clean Up tool can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo — without accidentally altering the subject.
  • Siri Enters a New Era | Powered by Apple Intelligence, Siri becomes more deeply integrated into the system experience. With richer language-understanding capabilities, Siri is more natural, more contextually relevant, and more personal,

with the ability to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks. It can follow along if users stumble over words and maintain context from one request to the next. Additionally, users can type to Siri, and switch between text and voice to communicate with Siri in whatever way feels right for the moment. Siri also has a brand-new design with an elegant glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when Siri is active.

  • A New Standard for Privacy in AI | To be truly helpful, Apple Intelligence relies on understanding deep personal context while also protecting user privacy. A cornerstone of Apple Intelligence is on-device processing, and many of the models that power it run entirely on device. To run more complex requests that require more processing power, Private Cloud Compute extends the privacy and security of Apple devices into the cloud to unlock even more intelligence.
  • ChatGPT Gets Integrated Across Apple Platforms | Apple is integrating ChatGPT access into experiences within iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access its expertise — as well as its image- and document-understanding capabilities — without needing to jump between tools.

Apple Intelligence is free for users, and will be available in beta as part of iOS 18iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall in U.S. English. Some features, software platforms, and additional languages will come over the course of the next year. Apple Intelligence will be available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 and later, with Siri and device language set to U.S. English. The Martin County School District is elevating tech-inspired teaching through its CampTEACH program

Read Time 3 Minutes

The Martin County School District is pioneering academic innovation through their “CampTEACH” initiative, focused on harnessing technology to drive educational transformation.

This summer, the Districts dedicated educators engaged in an enriching, tech-inspired learning experience at CampTEACH, or Technology Exploring Acadmic Change. They explored new technology tools and received guidance to enhance their proficiency with existing platforms.

CampTEACH 2024 was offered the week after the 2023 – 2024 school year concluded and included an impressive 60 educational sessions, amounting to over 1,600 hours of professional development – more than double from the previous year. Nearly 180 teachers from all traditional schools, as well as most alternative and special sites, participated in this summer learning program.

Back in the early 2000s, classroom technology was mostly limited to basic computer lessons: learning to type, getting familiar with different search engines, and generally becoming comfortable using technology for homework and class assignments.

Today, however, many children have grown up with technology, whether it’s been accessible to them from an early age or with the expectation that they be proficient with devices and the internet. Technology has become integral to their lives and future success. Schools must reconsider the steps they’re taking to promote and incorporate digital literacy into their programs, ensuring students acquire the necessary skills to research, validate, and share information across different devices and platforms.

In the new era of social media and AI, misinformation runs rampant. Enhancing digital literacy entails more than just educating students about world events; it includes teaching them how to research, verify sources, and independently assess the accuracy of the information they find online.

Artificial Intelligence was a major topic at this year’s sessions. “When I think about the AI in education debate, there’s a lot of things that are going on in both the K-12 and higher education space,” shared keynote speaker and K-12 Education Strategist at CDW, Victoria Thompson.

Her keynote presentation titled ‘AI in Education’ was a highlight this year’s program. “I do focus on the high school aspect in particular about the college career readiness, but it’s all about k-12 and how we can use artificial intelligence for students.”

Any competent teacher can attest that learning extends beyond the classroom. It’s essential for students to carry practical skills with them as they navigate through life, and their schools must equip them with the tools to become more informed and thoughtful citizens.

“I try to think of what’s coming for me for the next year and what new tools I’m going to need to help my students and what new platforms or programs the District has put in place that there might be an informational session for,” shared Faith Peak, Murray Middle School science teacher.

“I do really like that there’s options and multiple options so you don’t have to really pick and choose and lose out.”

The Martin County School District shared that they are extremely proud of their educators’ commitment to continuous improvement and innovative teaching practices. As the Treasure Coast region and Martin County continue to grow, the need for more educators is growing.

Click here if you are interested in joining the district and their mission to “Educate All Students to Success.”

JPMorganChase unveils its significant expansion plans in South Florida

Read Time 5 Minutes

JPMorganChase unveiled renovation and expansion plans for its Brickell office location in Downtown Miami, and announced it is opening a 13,000 square foot office in West Palm Beach, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to South Florida as one of its key strategic regions in the country.

JPMorganChase (NYSE: JPM) is a leading financial services firm based in the United States of America (“U.S.”), with operations worldwide. JPMorgan Chase had $4.1 trillion in assets and $337 billion in stockholders’ equity as of March 31, 2024. The Firm is a leader in investment banking, financial services for consumers and small businesses, commercial banking, financial transaction processing and asset management. Under the J.P. Morgan and Chase brands, the Firm serves millions of customers in the U.S., and many of the world’s most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients globally.

The firm’s downtown Miami office will double in size from 80,000 square feet to 160,000 square feet in part to accommodate 400 additional employees. The office currently includes more than 500 employees across all of JPMorganChase’s lines of business and functions. The two-year project will also renovate and expand the firm’s Miami Client Center to create a world-class meeting and function space to host client and employee events. This investment in the Brickell office includes refurbished work floors with state-of-the-art technology and furniture, updated meeting rooms, common spaces, restrooms and pantry areas.

In addition, the firm will open a new 13,000 square foot office in West Palm Beach at 360 Rosemary to bring together more than 60 employees across many of its lines of business and functions who were previously sitting in a number of locations across Palm Beach County.

Located just across the Intracoastal Waterway from the ultra-wealthy island of Palm Beach, the downtown West Palm Beach area has continued to develop over the past 20 years attracting financial firms for the last decade. Centrally located in the business district amidst vibrant shopping, retaurants, and nearby arts and entertainment such at the renowned Kravis Center for Performing Arts and the Norton Museum of Art. The Related Corporation’s 360 Rosemary will offer unparalleled amenities and access to one of the wealthiest areas in the country, with a year-round market of 2.8 million people within a 25-mile radius.

“Miami and South Florida are home to an increasing number of our clients, customers, community partners and employees, and a strategic location for our operations in Latin America as well,” said Jonathan Bello, head of Chase for Business Miami and co-chair of the firm’s South Florida Market Leadership Team. “Like our investment with Inter-Miami CF to create Chase Stadium, these expansions reflect the opportunity that this area represents as well as our commitment to be the bank for all in South Florida.”

JPMorganChase is one of the region’s largest private employers with more than 3,000 local employees. An independent third-party study found that through the firm’s thousands of local employees and operations, JPMorganChase contributes $1.9 billion in annual economic activity to South Florida, stimulating an additional 5,300 jobs across several local industries. The firm’s expansion of its South Florida footprint is expected to trigger an average of $151 million in additional economic activity for South Florida and support about 380 local construction jobs per year during the construction period.

In addition to its corporate office expansions, the firm will be opening three J.P. Morgan Financial Centers in Palm Beach, Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens all in Palm Beach County early next year. These locations are among more than 20 J.P. Morgan Financial Centers to be opened across the country. Many of these locations were previously First Republic offices that will be converted into an entirely new experience, leveraging First Republic’s existing branch format – open meeting space and large living rooms, private meeting spaces and board rooms, and a signature library. In addition to its growth in the Miami Metro region (Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties), the firm is also adding new offices in Southwest Florida in the City of Ft. Myers.

In his recent annual letter, JPMorganChase CEO and Chairman Jamie Dimon highlighted the firm’s commitment to empowering economic growth throughout Florida. Miami, Palm Beach, Ft. Myers, Melbourne, Sarasota and Tampa are all in the midst of expansion and investment from JPMorganChase.

“These new centers will serve clients across banking, lending and wealth, and will offer the best of both worlds – the strength and scale of JPMorganChase and First Republic’s commitment to exceptional client service,” stated Jennifer Roberts, CEO of Chase Consumer Banking.

From the start of the tech era in South Florida with IBMs research facility and manufacturing plant located in Boca Raton (now BRIC) back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s to the surge of new companies relocating to the Miami Metro region, the area has been a technology hub for decades, but now struggling to grow, attract and retain enough talent to fill all the necessary tech talent needs of employers.

Although slow progress, the collaboration between Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties finally becoming tangible, but we have a long way to go. Unlike tech hubs in New York, Massechusetts,  and California, Florida, specifically South Florida is still very young. Unification of the region is the only way we are going to solve our tech talent shortage in the long run. In 2022, JPMorgan Chase announced it was committing $10 million toward the $100 million Tech Equity Miami initiative to support greater inclusivity in Miami’s growing tech industry.

At South Florida Tech Hub, we are hoping that the expansion of JPMorganChase into the rest of the Miami Metro and South Florida community will spawn additional support for the entire region’s tech ecosystem.

PayCargo awarded over $16 Million after Eleventh Circuit affirms trial court decision in case against CargoSprint

Read Time 3 Minutes

Logistics payments and data infrastructure platform PayCargo announced it has conclusively won its trademark infringement and breach of contract lawsuit against CargoSprint and its founder/CEO Joshua Wolf, following an appeal. PayCargo has been awarded and collected a total of $16,395,683.90, inclusive of damages, attorneys’ fees, prejudgment interest, and costs.

PayCargo is the most trusted logistics payment platform for faster release of cargo. With over 130,000 businesses in the PayCargo Network, you can instantly make payments for same-day or overnight release of cargo to major Air, Land, and Ocean carriers such as MSC, Hapag Lloyd, Alliance Ground, Delta Cargo, Ocean Network Express, Lufthansa and Swissport. The company offers a more secure, efficient way to reduce costs associated with payment processing and to eliminate the traditional resource-intensive system of requesting, printing, mailing, and delivering checks, and wire transfers or cash.

The judge in the United States District Court of Florida had earlier issued her findings of facts and conclusions of law on September 30, 2022, holding CargoSprint liable for “willful, pervasive, and relentless” infringement of PayCargo’s federal trademarks and breach of contract. On December 15, 2022, the court entered a permanent injunction against CargoSprint, enjoining them from using the PayAirCargo name in commerce, social media, and other contexts. A day later, the court entered final judgment against CargoSprint, awarding PayCargo $15,191,277.50, comprised of $11,591,277.50 in damages, $3,531,630.00 in attorneys’ fees and prejudgment interest, and $68,370.00 in costs. During the trial, the federal district court twice found CargoSprint in contempt of court, once for submitting fabricated financial records to the court.

CargoSprint appealed PayCargo’s victory at trial to the Eleventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. In April 2024, a three-judge panel of the Eleventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals unanimously affirmed the trial court’s decision. CargoSprint elected not to further appeal the appellate court’s decision, thus definitively concluding the matter in PayCargo’s favor. On May 28, 2024, CargoSprint paid PayCargo $16,395,683.90 in satisfaction of the judgment.

In 2016, PayCargo reached a settlement agreement with Wolf and his company PayAirCargo to cease commercial use of the name and change it to CargoSprint. In 2019, PayCargo filed its federal civil suit because the defendants continued to use the confusingly similar PayAirCargo name. In finding that Wolf and CargoSprint infringed on PayCargo’s trademarks and breached the agreement, the court explained: “Customers and vendors alike expressed confusion over whether the two competitors were a single entity.”

“We’re extremely gratified with the court’s decision,” said Mitchell Baxt, Vice Chairman of PayCargo. “As a company founded on the highest principles of honesty and transparency, we have taken very seriously this case of another business infringing on our trademarks and breaching our agreement. We’ve worked hard to build PayCargo’s reputation as the leader in the industry, so we owed it to our customers, employees, and business partners to defend it vigorously. Furthermore, the integrity of the industry needs to be protected to continuously advance and innovate.”

PayCargo was represented by Peter Prieto, Matthew Weinshall, and Alissa Del Riego of Miami-based Podhurst Orseck, Ann Fort of Atlanta-based Eversheds Sutherland, and Wayne Atkins of Miami-based Xander Law Group.

All-electric circuit shuttle BocaConnect makes getting around downtown a lot easier

Read Time 4 Minutes

The City of Boca Raton held a ribbon cutting on June 17th celebrating the new BocaConnect circuit bus.

Circuit Transit Inc. is an affordable (sometimes free), electric, micro-transit solution. Circuit uses fleets of nimble cars that fulfill the first-mile last-mile gap that’s experienced by municipalities around the world. The service is made possible by collaborating with municipal organizations and executing innovative out of home/experiential advertising campaigns with some of the world’s most recognizable brands. Co-founders Alexander Esposito, CEO, and James Mirras, COO, started Circuit as a fun and free beach shuttle in the Hamptons in 2011, then quickly partnered with Jason Bagley in Fort Lauderdale to expand the service into Florida markets. Since then, Circuit has grown to provide over 5 million rides to people across the country without burning an ounce of gas. The all-electric fleet of vehicles have given over 5 million rides in locations across eight different states – NY, FL, CA, NJ, CO, MA, IL and TX.

Circuit has been operating in the South Florida area for over 10 years, with services in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami, Hollywood Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Pompano Beach. With the help of innovative Cities, CRAS, private companies and national brands, Circuit is able to provide low-cost shuttle rides without emitting greenhouse gases. Circuit Transit aims to operate the best to bridge the first / last mile gap, connect riders to public transit, improve circulation, reduce congestion, and reduce parking issues. Circuit Transit also offers innovative out-of-home advertising opportunities promoting local economic development.

At a City Council meetig on April 9th, 2024, a contract was signed with with Circuit Transit Inc. to provide on-demand shuttle service in the City of Boca Raton downtown area and beyond. The new “Boca Connect” circuit shuttle will help with connectivity by offering the first-mile-last-mile rides within and around the downtown area and in the City. This will also be avaiable to those arriving at the Brightline Boca Raton Station located at 101 NW 4th St, Boca Raton, FL 33432 and nerby transporation hubs. Providing a convenient and sustainable multimodal transportation service for the community falls under the City’s strategic goal of improving mobility and connectivity across Boca Raton.

“We’re very excited to welcome Circuit. It’s a project in the making for over a year. It aligns with our strategic priorities of transportation and mobility so anytime you can offer residents, neighborhoods another way of moving around, a multimodal option, which is Circuit, it’s a great day,” shared Yvette Drucker, Deputy Mayor of Boca Raton, during the ribbon-cutting event. “We want people to get out, less traffic and it also helps our environment so we’re really, really excited to offer another option.”

Deputy Mayor Drucker later shared a social media post highlighting the benefits of such a service in the City, “It’s so exciting to move forward with this initiative that can reduce traffic congestion and make our city more innovative. It’s a win-win for our neighborhoods and our downtown and I’m pleased to be part of it. Download the app and begin riding the circuit let me know how you like it.”

The shuttle service began June 17, 2024 and the initial contract spans one year, during which Circuit and City staff will conduct regular assessments to optimize operations and service coverage. Circuit’s mobile app allows users to request rides, just like other ride-sharing companies. However, a ride with Circuit is a fraction of the cost. Riders can download the Circuit app, available on both iOS and Android platforms, to request a ride with just a few clicks. Ditch the car and catch a ride to and from Boca Raton’s favorite spots like the Museum of Art, Royal Palm Place, Mizner Park, and more.

Endeavor Miami and hotel and lifestyle brand citizenM are thrilled to announce their new partnership in an effort to enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Miami.

Endeavor Miami, established in 2013 with the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, is the first U.S. affiliate of the global Endeavor organization. In 2023, Miami’s Endeavor Entrepreneurs generated over $900M in revenues and employed more than 6,000 individuals. The affiliate currently supports 35 companies and 60 Endeavor Entrepreneurs.

citizenM was launched in 2008 with a purpose – to disrupt the traditional, stale hotel industry. Rattan Chadha – the founder of the global fashion brand Mexx – was inspired by his employees to create a hotel for today’s frequent travellers, giving them everything they need and nothing they don’t. This means central locations in the world’s most exciting cities, but at an affordable price. Not just a place to sleep, but somewhere to work, relax and play – just like home.

mycitizenM+ is an example of how citzenM is more than a hotel. The membership gives access to a global community of founders, creators and entrepreneurs. For a low monthly cost, members get perks like 15% off hotels, free co-working globally and discounted meeting rooms, plus access to exclusive member-only events and networking opportunities – perfect for meeting fellow business travellers.

Both organizations, renowned for their commitment to fostering entrepreneurial spirit, are joining forces to support early-stage and high-impact entrepreneurs across North America, with Miami serving as a key hub in this initiative. This strategic alliance leverages citizenM’s founder-entrepreneur orientation, aligning seamlessly with Endeavor Miami’s mission. By providing entrepreneurs with a supportive base of operations in one of the city’s most dynamic environments, this partnership embodies a shared dedication to nurturing business talent, driving economic growth, and supporting entrepreneurs in dreaming bigger, scaling faster and paying it forward.

“This partnership with citizenM marks a pivotal moment for Endeavor Miami. By joining forces with citizenM, we are enhancing the support we can offer entrepreneurs as they scale their ventures. Our combined efforts will allow founders to focus on sparking innovation and make deeper connections amongst the entrepreneurial community,” shared Claudia Duran, Regional Managing Director for North America and of Endeavor Miami.

The collaboration between Endeavor Miami and citizenM focuses on uniting two globally recognized companies to back entrepreneurs, providing them with the essential tools to scale their businesses. This partnership provides practical benefits while creating a narrative that resonates with entrepreneurs worldwide, emphasizing the power of collaboration and shared vision in building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.

From Endeavor’s growth-stage resources, mentors, worldwide partners, and accelerator programs to citizenM’s innoavative and tech-forward approach such as the TooGoodToGo app to sell citizenM breakfast buffet leftovers which would otherwise go to waste, their small-business partners in every city promoted services in the citizenM app – everything from restaurants to bike rentals – to being the first hospitality brand to buy property in metaverse The Sandbox in 2022. The two companies are pushing the envelope – in a great way!

“citizenM is excited to partner with Endeavor Miami as the preferred hotel member, reflecting our shared commitment to fostering entrepreneurial spirit and community. This partnership will allow Endeavor Miami’s vibrant network of entrepreneurs access to citizenM’s three Miami properties, meeting rooms, event spaces and membership program, enhancing their experience and facilitating even greater collaborative opportunities.,” We look forward to being a part of their journey and providing a dynamic, supportive environment where ideas and innovation thrive,” said Blair Dodson, Head of Partnerships for citizenM.

A.D. Henderson & FAU High School recieve $2M grant to launch a research and innovation center in Boca Raton

Read Time 4 Minutes

Florida Atlantic University Laboratory Schools received a $2 million grant from The Marcus Foundation, established by Bernie Marcus, to launch the Marcus Research and Innovation Center at the A.D. Henderson University School and FAU High School campus in Boca Raton.

Alexander D. Henderson University School is a public elementary and middle school on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. A.D. Henderson is a developmental research (lab) school established in 1968 to enhance instruction and research in specialized subjects to improve outcomes for all students in the country. FAU High School is the only public, accelerated pre-collegiate program that has every one of its students working towards a cost-free bachelor’s degree and high school diploma simultaneously. It paves the way for students to graduate college debt-free.

This grant will enhance the pipeline of students at Henderson and FAU High as they strive to become talented researchers and innovators who can address the country’s most pressing challenges, while becoming part of a highly skilled workforce to meet the needs of the nation. It also will help to re-engineer education to train future school leaders and educators.

“The science, innovation and research that will occur within the Marcus Research and Innovation Center will expose and engage youth at early ages in these important fields, and could be an educational model for the rest of the country,” said Bernard “Bernie” Marcus, chairman of The Marcus Foundation.

Founded in 1989, The Marcus Foundation focuses on fulfilling the philanthropic vision of Bernie Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the Foundation’s grantmaking philosophy is derived from Bernie Marcus’ personal life experiences and awareness, and his success as an entrepreneur enables him to give back. The Foundation has five key areas of philanthropy – giving back in spheres that uphold Bernie’s beliefs and values – all with the goal to save and change lives through entrepreneurial philanthropy. The five focus areas are: healthcare and medical research; Jewish causes; the health and welfare of children, with an emphasis on civics education; free enterprise, including veteran issues and national security; and local community.

The Marcus Research and Innovation Center will provide more than 12,000 square feet of STEM and research space to serve as a training center and incubator for current A.D. Henderson and FAU High students as they prepare to become researchers and innovators of tomorrow. The labs within the center will focus on bioimaging, neuroscience, ocean science and conservation, along with a health care pipeline for teaching, high-performance computing, and rapid prototyping methods. Each of the labs will be equipped with top-tier research instruments not typically found in K-12 settings.

The center will also host visiting scholars and researchers, as well as advance the partnership and research already underway at the Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Boca Regional Hospital and Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine.
The Marcus Research and Innovation Center will introduce students to research as early as kindergarten. To date, students participating in the lab school’s research program have produced 78 student publications in peer-reviewed journals, six patents, and more than 1,500 citations worldwide. Student research collaborations now include work with Boca Raton Regional Hospital, the Max Planck Society, UF Scripps, Jupiter Medical Center, Wahoo Bay, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, and others. The state-of-the-art Marcus Research and Innovation Center will house and expand the current programs at the FAU Laboratory Schools to grow and inspire exponentially more students in diverse research activities.

In addition, the Marcus Research and Innovation Center also will provide spaces to support the FAU Laboratory Schools’ Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy (SNSTA) and The Cane Institute for Advanced Technologies (TCI). The SNSTA bridges high-caliber research settings with middle and high school instructors by developing experiential professional learning opportunities and instruction to inspire innovation and create lasting educational benefits for students nationwide. TCI is a premier, K-12 STEM continuum, and serves as the lab schools’ epicenter for STEM education and technology transfer.

“This generous grant will accelerate the transformational re-engineering of education already in progress at our lab schools,” said Joel Herbst, Ed.D., superintendent of Florida Atlantic Laboratory Schools. “The Marcus Research and Innovation Center will serve as a blueprint for developing researchers and a globally competitive workforce, as well as train the school leaders and educators of tomorrow.”

After Much Time of Beta status, the TurboDocx API has made it live

Read Time 4 Minutes

TurboDocx announced that the long-awaited TurboDocx API is officially out of Beta and Live.

Palm Beach County-based, TurboDocx is an AI-assisted Document and Slide Deck templating platform designed to revolutionize how you create and reuse content. The primary objective is to empower professionals to build documents and slide decks in seconds. By eliminating tedious copy-pasting, leveraging AI as a power assist to fill in templates quickly, and centralizing content within an easily accessible knowledge base, TurboDocx streamlines your content creation process, making it more efficient and, dare we say – enjoyable. Their core values start with people first and give the best gift: getting time back.

“We are thrilled to announce the official release of our TurboDocx API! This has been a long time coming, and we’re incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication that went into making this possible,” said Nicolas Fry, Founder & CEO of TurboDocx. “This launch is a significant milestone in our journey to empower developers and enhance our developer motion.”

TurboDocx was born out of a shared struggle, a pain point experienced by many, including its founder, Nicolas. Spending endless hours crafting slide decks and documentation for clients, they understood the need for a more efficient way to repurpose and reuse content. This understanding led to the birth of TurboDocx. With a clear mission and a humble beginning, their platform has evolved to make content creation more streamlined and efficient, catering to the needs of everyone who shares this struggle.

“Creating TurboDocx involved the cliches of blood, sweat, and tears, but there are no shortcuts to hard work and consistency. If someone’s learning through the school of hard knocks like we did, they need to shift from a Software as a Service mindset to ‘Service as Software.'” Fry explained

Nicolas himself spent years prior to creating TurboDocx architecting cloud infrastructures, data centers, and API integrations. During his time in Solutions Architecture and Solutions Engineering, he encountered a recurring pain point: the constant copying and pasting between documents and slide decks, sometimes with glaring errors.

“I’ll admit, under tight deadlines, we often reused content—even other project documentation—across different client engagements. It’s like finding a competitor’s name in a Statement of Work, Contract, or IT Assessment!” Nicolas vowed to ensure this would never happen again, and that’s how TurboDocx was born.

TurboDocx works basically like Legos for Documents and Slide Decks accelerated by AI. Imagine being able to point-and-click to build documents in business and have AI help with making and stacking the Legos. When building complex items like statements of work or IT Designs/Assessments, automating these processes reduces the amount of time spent creating, reviewing, and revising, allowing companies to turn deliverables around quickly. Sometimes, waiting a few days to respond can cost you a client or be better used elsewhere.

What This Means for You:

  • Seamless Integration: Easily integrate TurboDocx into your existing workflows and systems.
  • Flexibility: Create documents dynamically from a variety of data sources.
  • Customization: Tailor document generation to meet the specific needs of your users and applications.
  • Developer-Friendly: References to get you started quickly and efficiently.

The mission at TurboDocx has always been to streamline and simplify the document generation process, and this API documentation is a significant step forward in achieving that goal. You can explore the API Documentation Here.

As a proud South Florida Tech Hub member, Nicolas Fry also admires the assistance of Tech Hub in helping make this possible. “We are a corporate sponsor and South Florida Tech Hub provided us the foundation to establish a presence in the South Florida tech community and meet some awesome organizations and individuals including some of our initial clients, partners, and (angel) investors. It’s like the tech-focused chamber of commerce from Miami to the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast.” Nicolas explained.

Wherever TurboDocx heads towards it’s future. It is no doubt that Nicolas Fry is determined to keep it moving in the right direction.

“We’re excited about what the future holds and the AI-enhanced Documentation space moving at light speed. Some of our future developments include making it easier to embed the TurboDocx engine into your own products as well as bringing the experience to tooling/platforms that our users know and love,” Nicolas stated.
