The Tech Hub Hackathon is an overnight event where participants form teams, vet ideas, create a project, then present their work to an expert panel of judges.
Teams will consist of developers, designers, project managers, and entrepreneurs, with successful teams having a mix of these areas of expertise and winners walking away with a combination of cash and in kind prizes!
Our theme this year is ‘Hack For Humanity’ harnessing the power of technology to uplift our local nonprofits and enhance their impactful work.
In collaboration with these vital organizations, we aim to bridge the gap between their commendable goals and the technical expertise required to create efficient applications and robust websites. Teams will collaborate to build a solution to support one of our local South Florida nonprofits presented.

🔴 Event Focus: Enhancing Nonprofits with Technology
In the heart of South Florida, our vibrant community is blessed with numerous nonprofits that provide education resources and invaluable support to those in need. However, these organizations often face challenges in developing applications and websites that can effectively connect resources, manage data, and educate the community.
🔴 Our Vision: Fostering Collaboration for Positive Change
The South Florida Community Hackathon is a platform where technical enthusiasts, developers, designers, and innovators come together to collaboratively address these challenges. By combining their skills, creativity, and passion, participants will develop solutions that empower nonprofits to streamline operations, amplify their reach, and make an even more significant impact on our community.
🔴 Join Us in Driving Positive Change!
We invite individuals passionate about technology, community engagement, and social impact to join us in this exciting endeavor. By combining innovation with compassion, we can empower nonprofits to do even more for our community. Together, let’s create a stronger, more connected South Florida for everyone.
A hackathon is a competition where participants form teams, work intensively on a project, create a solution, and then pitch their ideas to judges.
This Hackathon is intended to serve our diverse community here in South Florida by giving our attendees a common goal to work towards that benefits the entire region.
First you register, then form a team at the kickoff, build your solution with the help of our technical coaches, and lastly present to a panel of judges.
A laptop, headphones, phone and laptop charger, a great attitude and creative mind, a strong cup of coffee (or tea, whatever you prefer), and a strong team. Oh, and we recommend a sleeping bag, pillow or blanket if you plan on spending the night.
Event venue and virtual communication platforms, technical and pitch coaching, brekfast, lunch and dinner, and a hackathon swag that includes awesome t-shirt, hackathon tips guide and fun promotional items! ASL interpretation is also provided.
Definitely not! We welcome designers, writers, creatives, data scientists, project managers, community organizers and anyone with an idea to participate. To be successful, a civic hacking team needs people with many different skills.
