Hands-on position that installs, upgrades, configures, monitors, and performs problem determination for servers and software in physical/virtual and Cloud Windows and Linux environments.
Plans and communicates system outages and activities.
Helps to create and maintain documentation for all department activities.
Adheres to all Service Request, Incident, and Change Management policies and procedures.
Responsible for a broad range of systems, security administration, and operations in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
Assists project teams as requested and participates in overall support rotation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform daily system and tool checks to verify the integrity, performance, backup, and availability of servers and resources in physical/virtual and in AWS/Azure Cloud environments.
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
Performs on-call responsibilities and after-hours duties as necessary and/or directed by DSS Management.
Perform troubleshooting as required and participate in problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
Adheres to all procedures and policies including the use of Incident and Change Management.
Creates and maintains detailed technical support and process documentation.
Gathers and formats data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Assist with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks.
Actively participates in the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
Performs capacity monitoring and assists with short and long-term capacity planning.

SECURITY AND PRIVACY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Individuals working for DSS will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

5+ years of experience administering Windows and/or Linux Server operating systems.
2+ years of experience administering servers and services in the AWS/Azure Cloud including the ability to build, configure and modify a Cloud VM.
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating system, esp. process and system monitoring facilities.
Ability to analyze and tune performance issues by leveraging various industry-standard monitoring and reporting tools.
Experience with being On Call and on supporting customer facing environments in AWS/Azure Cloud.
Experience in OS Patching, Remediating security vulnerabilities in Windows and Linux.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on servers, computers, and peripheral equipment.
Good Verbal, Written communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of Active Directory architecture, design, and implementation.
Operational knowledge of RPO and RTO for backups.
Technical documentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate technical information to non-technical staff, both orally and in writing.
Exhibits mature organization and time management skills.

Desired:

Experience administering and optimizing servers and services in the AWS/Azure Cloud.
Fluency in at least one scripting language, shell scripting, and experience with object-oriented programming languages.
Experience in Active Directory, Administration, Troubleshooting, Group Policy, Users, groups.
Experience in supporting systems in SOC2/PCI/HIPPA/FedRAMP certified environments in AWS/Azure Cloud.
Team-player, Detail-oriented, Initiative to learn.

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Desired: Master’s degree, Computer Science
