We are seeking a qualified, full-time DIRECTOR, CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE & OPERATIONS to join our Information Technology team. The Director of Cloud Infrastructure and Operations will oversee all aspects of the organization’s cloud engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), cloud governance, and cloud migration/modernization initiatives. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities, deep technical expertise, and a strategic vision to drive the organization’s cloud strategy forward. The Director of Cloud Infrastructure and Operations will ensure cloud environments’ scalability, security, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, enabling the organization to achieve its business objectives.

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with the organization’s goals.
Lead and mentor teams across cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, and cloud governance functions.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, agile practices, and collaboration.
Design and Implementation:

Oversee the design and deployment of scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure.
Guide the development and implementation of cloud-based applications and services.
Promote using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and DevOps practices for automated deployment and management.
Management and Optimization:

Monitor and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
Implement cost-saving measures by optimizing cloud resource usage and effective budget management.
Maintain cloud environments in compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Security, Compliance, and Business Continuity:

Establish and enforce robust security measures to protect cloud infrastructure and data.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2).
Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
Cloud Migration and Modernization:

Lead and oversee cloud migration and modernization initiatives for existing workloads and applications.
Collaborate with teams to plan and execute successful migration/modernization projects.
Collaboration and Support:

Work closely with development, operations, security, and business teams to integrate cloud solutions.
Provide high-level technical support, troubleshooting, and mentoring for cloud-related issues.
Promote knowledge sharing and training on cloud technologies and best practices across the organization.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
Experience in developing and implementing cloud governance policies, processes, and best practices.
Demonstrated expertise in cloud migration.
Demonstrated expertise in cost optimization.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker).
Strong understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity principles and practices for cloud environments.
Excellent budget management, forecasting, and cost optimization skills for cloud infrastructure and services.
Preferred Skills

Technical Skills:

Proven experience in a senior cloud engineering or architecture role, with expertise in the organization’s primary cloud service provider(s) (AWS and Azure).
Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure services, networking, security, and cloud governance best practices.
Proficiency with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Ruby.
Analytical Skills:

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud issues.
Ability to analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
Proficiency in cloud cost management and budget forecasting.
Leadership Skills:

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement, and driving innovation.
