Building South Florida's Tech Hub

This position is for a part-time STEAM Education Intern with Code Palm Beach which is Tech Hub South Florida’s effort to expand K-12 coding education programs throughout South Florida by working with Science Centers, Libraries, and community centers.

 

PROJECT TIMELINE

  • Week 1 | Onboarding & introductions to team, partners, key volunteers.
  • Week 2 – 4 | Begin managing events which entails running the Code Palm Beach
    Eventbrite, recruiting volunteers, properly preparing them for the event curriculum, &
    completing the event recap.
  • Week 5 – 8 | Build meaningful relationships between the local community centers and tech
    companies. From these relations our intern will onboard new volunteers and add events to our
    event calendar.
  • Week 9 – 14 | Continue to oversee operations of Code Palm Beach while also working on some
    side projects, such as grant research and meetings with potential sponsors. As well as aiding the
    board in implementing their ideas.

 

RESONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Code Palm Beach Board on new processes and procedures
  • Coordinate with Talent Committee on school district initiatives
  • Develop talent initiatives and workshops that can develop our local talent pool
  • Recruit, train, and retain volunteers
  • Communicate with students, parents, and volunteers on upcoming events/classes
  • Attend weekly working staff morning meetings
  • Help staff with other duties, as appropriate

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and self motivated
  • Proven leadership skills and vibrant personality
  • Team Orientated attitude

 

EXPERIENCE (Not required – a plus if you have these!)

  • Prior experience in University, Nonprofit, or local organizations
  • Event planning and/or volunteers coordination
  • Marketing and/or social media marketing
  • Customer service and sales experience a plus

 

PLATFORM & SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE (Not required – A plus if you have these!)

  • Proficient Computer Skills (Google, Microsoft Office, Calendly)
  • Web, Email & Social Marketing (WordPress, Mailchimp, Buffer)
  • Project Management (Slack, Trello)
